Inspire Malibu’s Opiate Treatment Pioneer Dr. Mohammad Announces Malibu Town Hall Series
Non 12 step model pioneer Dr Akikur Mohammad and his team launch local awareness campaign about addiction
Dr. Akikur Mohammad, Founder of Inspire Malibu, recognized by many as the top addiction treatment center in Malibu, California and Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and the Behavioral Sciences at the University of Southern California (www.USC.edu), announced today that in light of the recent surge in Black Tar Heroin incidents in the Malibu, CA region, his Inspire Malibu team is preparing to launch a local awareness campaign to educate families about opiate abuse and unmonitored opiate detox.
Dr. Mohammad said, “The streets of downtown Los Angeles have always been wrought with Black Tar Heroin addicts; however, not until recently has there been a significant spike in heroin-related incidents in some of Los Angeles’ most affluent and respected neighborhoods.” Mohammad added, “What once were considered the safest suburban neighborhoods in Los Angeles are now dealing with sizeable heroin problems among young adults and frankly, people are terrified. The most effective way to put a stop to surging abuse is to raise awareness and educate the community, which is why we are doing our part to open a dialogue about everything from opiate treatment to the newest designer drugs hitting the streets.”
Dr. Mohammad and his team will be launching a series of ‘town hall’ meetings at the Inspire Malibu offices, which will give the public an opportunity to come to the facility and ask tough questions to industry-leading professionals. Mohammad added, “Many people enable addicts by letting their addiction slip through the cracks due to a lack of information and we are doing something about it. Our town hall meetings will allow people to get the information necessary to save the lives of the people they love…not let them die without a chance.”
