42 Recovery Slogans Assembled Into a Word Collage

“Without knowing the force of words, it is impossible to know more,” wrote Confucius. Though the Chinese thinker and social philosopher wrote these words thousands of years ago, they’re still meaningful today.

Motivational SayingsShort, striking, or memorable phrases are known as slogans, and we use them often in our daily lives. You might see them on bumper stickers, billboards or even tattooed on a person’s body.

Slogans and sayings are powerful tools that people use as mottos to live by, to help them remember what’s important, and when it comes to recovery from alcoholism and drug abuse, to help them stay sober.

Due to the nature of addiction, recovery is an ongoing process. Because it is a chronic disease, there is no cure for it. Each individual must find what works best for him or her to keep motivated and stay positive. Recovery slogans are one way to help accomplish that.

Below is a list of 42 slogans for people in recovery. Many of them are quite good and some are amazing. But that’s just one opinion. It’s up to each person, to find the one or two in the list that light their fire. Then use them as a motivational compass for staying on track with their goals. There are literally thousands of them floating around.

Some sayings and slogans are short…only a few words, not even a sentence. Others are full quotes by respected people throughout history. We chose to list the short ones because they tend to keep things simple, and simple can be very effective. In fact, one of them is a reminder to do just that.

42 Favorite Recovery Slogans

Though they’re only words, slogans and sayings have the power to keep us motivated and focused on living the best life we can. When used with meditation, these simple sayings can help calm our minds, change the nature of our brainwaves and lessen feelings of anxiety and worry.

The most important thing for anyone living with addiction is to get treatment at a qualified facility. Abusing drugs and alcohol actually alters an individual’s brain chemistry, which in turn can skew their thought patterns. This leads to a cycle of destructive behavior that’s difficult to overcome.

Recovery can only begin once alcohol and drugs are removed from an individual’s system. One on one counseling is then a useful tool to explore any underlying causes that drive destructive behavior. Relapse prevention therapy can also help limit the recurrence of their disease.

In sobriety, a person is able to develop new habits; new ways of thinking, and slogans play an important role in this process.

Feel free to share this list and pass it along to others who are seeking encouragement during recovery.
