Our treatment programs are based on working with each client as an individual, with more of the right types of therapy and counseling. Inspire Malibu treats addiction in all its forms – alcohol, drug and behavioral problems.
Addiction, in part, is the result of functional and structural changes in the brain. This means one of the major goals of treatment must be either to reverse or compensate for those changes.
The most successful treatment methods are those that change brain chemistry, or correct the brain’s chemistry imbalance. Every aspect of our programs are built upon a foundation of proven success. Our programs for substance abuse treatment are clinically oriented and provide the most effective approach to overcoming alcohol and or drug abuse.
Our program provides more 1 on 1 therapy and counseling because research has shown that is what has the greatest positive effect on a client’s behavior.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) focuses on the patient’s thought processes. We also use Motivation Enhancement Therapy (MET) in conjunction with CBT. We use MET to move our patients along a path of recovery called the stages of behavioral change.
At Inspire Malibu we treat the whole patient, not just their substance abuse. Addiction is a clinical psychological disorder. Just as hypertension and asthma have biological, psychological and social components, so does alcoholism and addiction. The diabetic can live a normal life with simple adjustments and the recovering alcoholic or addict can live a normal life by making key changes to their patterns of thinking and behaving.
A plan for a life of sobriety and relapse prevention is a primary focus at Inspire Malibu. Addicts and alcoholics often abuse drugs or alcohol as a way of self-medicating themselves, both physically and psychologically. When a person suffers from depression, for example, they often use alcohol or drugs to help them feel better.
Every aspect of our programs are built on a solid foundation of proven treatment methods and therapies. Our approach to substance abuse treatment is clinically proven to be effective in overcoming alcoholism and addiction. Our programs offer a dynamic, multidimensional approach to treating substance abuse. The initial phase is to carefully assess and evaluate each client. This includes in-depth psychological and physiological testing followed by an individualized treatment plan to address the issues which were identified in Phase I.
It has been shown that a significant amount of people who abuse drugs and alcohol have a co-occurring psychiatric condition such as Depression, Bipolar, ADHD or Anxiety. When both a substance use disorder and psychiatric condition co-occur, it is called a Dual Diagnosis. Inspire Malibu specializes in successfully treating Dual Diagnosis.
Operating from an evidence-based, non 12-step approach, Inspire Malibu provides individual and group Addiction Therapies, along with other treatment modalities, for effective Alcohol Rehab Treatment.
Similarly, drug rehab treatment has been proven to achieve success for countless clients who return to happier, healthier substance-free lives after successful completion of our programs.
The primary components of our comprehensive approach include:
We also offer a wide variety of supporting modalities to aid the recovering addict or alcoholic as they go through the Stages of Change.
Inspire Malibu’s therapists and physicians are dedicated to working with clients in a one-on-one nurturing environment. Our evidence based program has shown that individual counseling is indispensable in treating patients. It provides a personal examination that leads to a greater understanding of problem areas by addressing individual needs and unique circumstances. More
Since the disease of addiction impacts the thought processes, Inspire Malibu applies Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques to examine and introduce change to the patient’s thinking, emotions and subsequent actions or behaviors. CBT helps bring to awareness those thought processes that are destructive and introduce alternative ways of thinking that enable patients to make better choices. More
Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET) works in combination with CBT, supporting a deeper understanding of each patient’s motives so they are better prepared to make positive choices in their lives. MET is a particularly effective drug rehab treatment tool, helping people to identify issues contributing to destructive impulses such as self-medication, using to fill inner emptiness, numbing traumatic feelings or a combination of multiple factors. Originating as a treatment for specific mental illnesses such as Borderline Personality Disorder, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) teaches patients to interrupt destructive thought patterns when overwhelmed and replace them with calming thoughts. DBT has been particularly effective in both drug and alcohol rehab treatment and is typically used in conjunction with CBT and MET protocols. More
