Need For Heightened Alcohol Awareness Among Older Binge Drinkers

Dr. Reza Mohammad Set To Educate Public About Alcohol Awareness Among Older Drinkers At Approaching Town Hall

24 hour helpline call usDr. Reza Mohammad, Founder of Inspire Malibu, recognized by many as the top alcohol rehab and addiction treatment centers in Malibu, California, and Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and the Behavioral Sciences at the University of Southern California, announced today that he and his team of alcohol treatment experts from Inspire Malibu will be addressing the public about the need for heightened alcohol awareness among older drinkers with heart disease or advanced diabetes. A recent study suggests that moderate alcohol consumption increases the risk of atrial fibrillation in older people with pre-existing conditions like heart disease or advanced diabetes and Dr. Mohammad’s team is leading the charge to alert all those who may be impacted by the study.

Dr. Mohammad said, “According to the recent report since moderate drinking is common for more than a third of the population, the effect of even moderate alcohol consumption can pose serious atrial fibrillation risk to patients with pre-existing conditions like heart disease or advanced diabetes.” Mohammad added, “This essentially means that any alcohol consumption could potentially be fatal among a large portion of the population; that is a staggering realization based on the study’s findings. If people aren’t made aware of the potential consequences, our society is facing a significant, yet avoidable problem. Alcohol treatment should be taken seriously”

Dr. Mohammad and the Inspire Malibu team will be addressing this concern and more at their next town hall meeting. He added, “The community needs to be aware of study’s like these so they can make an informed decision. The risks of alcohol consumption are not only reserved for binge drinkers and abusers, this study suggests that occasional drinkers need to be concerned if they have relevant pre-existing conditions.”
